I have a terrible throbbing tooth ache and its affecting my hole head, face, and neck. I assume that this is not a good sign and that I need to see a dentist asap. I cant stand this pain and also cant stand the idea of having to sit in the waiting room for a lengthy period of time. If I go in for an emergency appointment will I be waiting ages to see someone. Similarly, when I call them could it be days before an appointment is available for me. I don’t think this can wait much longer. Thanks a bunch

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
It is hard to say how long you will be waiting for an appointment, however, most emergency dentists will endeavour to treat you within a twenty-four-hour period. This will depend on how busy they are. Also, with some dentists, they will be able to give you a specific time to come to the clinic, rather than you turning up and having to wait. With any toothache, it is imperative to seek dental advice as soon as possible so you are definitely right to pursue this. While you are waiting you can use over the counter pain killers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen (as long as you are usually to take these) to stem the pain. Best of luck with this.
