I am in so much pain it is untrue. I have got a crack going right up the tooth from top to bottom. It is a remarkable pain that I am struggling to cope with. I am rendered powerless to even drink water because every time I try the pain is emmense. I daren’t even try food because I think that would be worse! What am I going to do because I need help and am not in my home town to get help from my dentist. Please can you give me advice on what I should do. This is crazy and debilitating. I am in London by the way if that makes any difference. Really needing advice please.

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
This is quite a serious dental problem and needs immediate attention. If you are away from your registered dental clinic, then it is important that you find an emergency dentist that is reliable and trustworthy. One that is not going to take advantage of your situation, knowing you are desperate for treatment. Therefore, if you are going to contact a private dental provider make sure that their prices are clearly displayed before accepting any treatment. A good clinic will be transparent about their fees. Alternatively, you can call NHS 111 for an emergency dentist that provides treatment for the NHS. They will be able to advise you on who to contact or may be able to make the appointment for you. With NHS emergency dentistry you will pay a flat fee for the treatment. However, it may be a temporary fix until you are able to get to see your own dentist. If the crack has gone underneath the gum line, then there may not be anything that can be done to save the tooth. The sooner you get to a dentist the better the prognosis is likely to be. Best of luck to you.
