I am wondering about the above question because I have been to my clinic twice already in recent weeks and now I think I am needing to go again but I dare not ring to ask because the last time the receptionist was exasperated down the phone, I could tell. I feel like I have used up my quota for the month because I knw how busy they are and it was hard for them to fit me in the other two times. What should I do now, I am in pain with this issue?

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
There is not a quota of emergency appointments you are allowed to have. You can have as many as you need to ensure that the problem is sorted, or at least that you are comfortable until a general appointment becomes available. Emergency dentistry is there for people in your position to ensure that they are cared for in their hour of need. Having an emergency dental issue can be stressful and painful, therefore, having appointments available is essential. Please do not feel worried about ringing for another appointment. If you need it then you are justified in asking for it. It is likely that the receptionist was feeling under pressure for other reasons, or was frustrated about the lack of available appointments to help you, not because of you personally. Please do give them a call. Alternatively, you could visit a private emergency dentist as a one-off and then return to your own practice afterward. Best of luck to you.
