Whent to the dentist (emergency) about 2 days ago because of this abscess (that’s what she said it was anyway) I dunno but it was painful as!!! So she did something to it and admittedely it did feels much better, the pain almost went away on the spot, got some antibiotics that she gave me but id not had chance to get them form the chemist and because it felt so much better I left it. Laos, you aren’t supposed gto take too many antibiotics are you because its dangerous to. Now I wish I had done because it is getting painful again and I know its all my fault for not taking the antibiotics so I am scared that they will turn me away and say its my fault so tough but I cant stand the paain.

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
No dentist will turn a patient who is in pain away because they have not taken the antibiotics they were prescribed. If anything, they will be glad you have come back and hope that you have learned a valuable lesson from not taking them. Yes, it is true that antibiotics should not be taken too often as infections are becoming immune to them. Overuse of antibiotics can lead to common infections becoming dangerous to the body because the antibiotics are not clearing them up. However, doctors and dentists are aware of these risks so, therefore, would only prescribe them when they are necessary and needed. In your case they were prescribed because the dentist knew that the infection from the abscess needed more than just draining away. This is why the pain is coming back, because the infection has not been eradicated without the use of the antibiotics. Book back in for another emergency appointment and ensure that you follow the advice that the dentist gives you so that this does not happen again. Best of luck to you.
