When my ortho-dentist told me about Invisalign as an option for me for teeth straightening I was really over the moon. It was sold to me as a clear brace that can be taken out and there would be no fixtures or fittings like on a train track affair. However, when ive had the Invisalign fitted ive got this attachments stuck to my teeth. What is this all about really!!! I am so annoyed. I feel really mislead. I know that they are white so they aren’t as noticeable however as far as I was concerned this was not part of the deal. What are these attachments even needed for anyway??

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
I am sorry that you feel mislead about your orthodontic treatment. Although Invisalign does not require metal fixtures and fittings you should have been informed that you still may need white attachments on your teeth to ensure that the brace is straightening your teeth in the correct way. The attachments allow the brace to apply pressure to certain parts of the teeth to help them move into the correct positions. They are an essential part of the process I’m afraid so therefore you will need to have them until the process is finished. There has obviously been some sort of miscommunication here, however, like you say, they are not very noticeable. Due to the nature of Invisalign, it should be quicker than traditional orthodontics so please try and bear with it. It will be worth it in the end when you have beautifully straight teeth.
