My enamel is so yellow that it practically glows. I hate my teeth if im honest because they look like I haven’t brushed my teeth in like forever. This is not true though because I brush them multiple times a day. I always give them a really good scrub but they never look any whiter or cleaner. Therefore I was thinking whether a whitening treatment would work for me. hopefully the bleach can turn that yellow into white. How suitable would I be for this do you think. What I suppose I am asking is would it work on me?

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
Vigorous brushing, several times a day will not be good for your teeth. In fact, this could be contributing to the yellowing of your teeth. It is not likely to be the enamel that is such a deep yellow, it is most likely to be the dentine underneath the enamel that is showing through. This may be because you are brushing your teeth so frequently, and with such intensity, that it is wearing your enamel away. This could be exposing your dentine layer underneath which is naturally a yellowy colour. Sometimes whitening can help but if your dentine is naturally a deep shade of yellow then whitening is unlikely to make much improvement. To tackle this issue, you may need to enquire about a cosmetic treatment that is attached over the enamel to cover it completely. This might be composite bonding or veneers. However, check with the clinician first and see what they recommend before proceeding. They will also need to examine you fully to ensure that your teeth are healthy and suitable for whatever treatment they advise. Best of luck to you.
