I would love to have a veneer treatment, mainly to whiten my teeth but I am so deeply put off by the idea of having to have my enamel striped down so that they will fit properly. I feel that this is a deal breaker for me but I do want to get it if there is an alternative that doesn’t require this step. What are my options for this without needing my teeth reduced? My teeth are in good shape and am not prepared to have them filled down to nubs. I have seen many pictures of what filled teeth look like and its vile and unhealthy in my opinion. What can I do from here please? xx

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
One of the things that put people off the most about having a veneer treatment is needing to have enamel shaved from their teeth. Having the enamel shaved does make permanent changes to the teeth and one that is not reversible. This often means that people need to wear veneers for the rest of their lives. However, there are some other options available to you that can be considered:
Option 1: Choose a veneer that does not need enamel shaving to fit in a natural looking way (however, sometimes a small amount of shaving may be needed so do check!). Veneers like Lumineers, Emax, and some aesthetic veneers require little or no shaving at all. You may pay a little extra for these but in your case, this could be worth it for you.
Option 2: Opt for composite bonding treatment. This consists of a white composite material being applied and sculpted onto the teeth in order to give you the shade and shape you want. With this, you could go with whatever shade you like.
Option 3: Consider a professional tooth whitening treatment to lighten and brighten your teeth. This is a less drastic measure to whiten the teeth and one that is not permanent.
Why not book in for a consultation so you can explore your options and find one that is most suitable for your situation, without needing to have your enamel shaved. Best of luck to you.
